Yesterday a client came in who has been dealing with chronic headaches for a long time.

The progress has been real. We have created space inside the body that has allowed the symptoms to ease. The headaches are better. By most measures, you would call that a win.

But we are not finished. Not even close.

Here is the part that most people do not think about. Getting rid of a symptom and solving the problem are two entirely different things.

What we have not yet done is reinforce the structures so that the headaches do not come back. That requires repositioning where the shoulder blade sits, which is a product of strengthening specific fibers of the tricep. It requires loosening the intercostal muscles between the ribs, the pec muscles on the front side of the chest, and the scalenes in the neck. All of that has to correlate with changes happening throughout the rest of the body. The gait mechanics have to be retrained and reinforced.

That is not a two-week project.

This is why we do not work session by session. We operate in four-month and six-month programs, and the reason is straightforward. We are not here to chase symptoms. We are here to solve the problem. Permanently.

Symptom relief can happen relatively quickly. The body is responsive. But the reinforcement, rebuilding the structures so that the body holds its new position under the demands of real life, that is where the time goes. That is the work that actually closes the door on the problem coming back.

A lot of people want to stop when they start feeling better. That is exactly the moment the most important work begins.
